Phase 1 of VMDO Architect's latest Chatham Hall project is complete.

August 25, 2008

VMDO's new Lecture Hall and renovation of the Yardley Hall Dining services reached the first phase of completion last week. The existing Dining Hall, Kitchen and Servery, constituting Phase One, reached completion on schedule and in time for pre-season operation.

Another successful collaboration between food service design consultants at Ricca Newmark and VMDO Architects and beautifully executed construction by General Contractor, Blair Construction.

Working together again after the very successful Averett University Student Center, Blair Construction's Project Manager, Jon Tibbs, and Project Superintendent, Roger Giles, led this construction team through a compact 10-week summer schedule to complete the Dining, Kitchen, and Servery installation over the summer break.

Upon their return on August 23rd through 24th, the 137 girls attending the college preparatory school will be pleased to find hot, cold and made-to-order entrees served from a beautiful market-place servery. Staff have enjoyed the modern kitchen equipment, new air conditioning, and the open layout of their former enclosed kitchen.

Construction of the new 325-seat Lecture Hall continues - with masonry, steel and wood roof structure progressing on schedule. Completion of the Hall is expected early in 2009.
